“And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

  • Passive
  • Reclusive
  • Selfless
  • Dependent
  • Bookish

Background

Jack did not have a very normal childhood, to say the least. He was raised in a wealthy family, excelled in nearly every class he took, from maths and science to music and dance. From the outside, Jack seemed to live the perfect life without any problems at all. Of course, it was the farthest thing from the truth. With his father suffering from bipolar disorder and alcoholism, Jack never knew what he was going to get when he returned home from school. His mother, in her fear of the man, took to abusing various drugs herself and died before Jack was eight.

It was the sight of her dead body that caused the first major switch. He deluded himself into thinking it was his father who had killed her, rather than accepting the truth, and a character who called himself Eliot, took over Jack’s consciousness.  Still too small and far too thin to do anything against his father, Eliot ran away from home. Some days later, he was found in the next city over, living in an alleyway and attacking anyone who came near.

Significant Event

Jack was taken in and moved from foster home to foster home, though none of the families he lived with thought to get his condition diagnosed. Nothing would come of it, they would say. He was simply a scared little boy and this was his way of coping. At eighteen, however, he was still acting up. Eliot was becoming more active and more creative with how he attacked people, until, at one point, he murdered someone.

An hour later, Jack regained consciousness with a very faint memory of what happened. It was the first time he became fully aware of the other personality inside him, and, in his fear, he ran away from home again. Gossip of an asylum near Sussex had reached his ears some time ago, and so there Jack went. Once in the asylum, Jack’s third personality revealed itself, a young girl who is constantly looking for her older sister. Cecilia only came out when Jack felt particularly afraid of what was going on, or particularly guilty of what he remembered doing when Eliot was in control. Jack pulled away from people almost completely, afraid of hurting anyone else, afraid of letting Eliot any more damage than he’d already done.

How about a Misha Collins FC?

We’ll add him to the requested list - but you might want to try just writing an oc. New bios aren’t going to be written quickly, I’m afraid.

Name:  Aubrey Delacore
Age: 26
Ability/Disorder: Mind manipulation. Aubrey can bend certain thoughts to her will.
Status: Nurse

“Why be a saint, when sinning is so much fun?”

  • Manipulative
  • Cunning
  • Jealous
  • Power-hungry
  • Vengeful

Background

Aubrey was spoiled. Whatever she wanted, her father would get it for her. Although growing up, they didn’t have a lot of money. Aubrey’s father was only a delivery man and her mother had abandoned them both when she was only three.Despite this however, she grew up a fairly normal girl. All her childhood, she had been a victim of bullying. In school, Aubrey tried very hard to be “the popular” girl and she would always be pushed away. She was either “too fat”,”too ugly” or many other typical insults young girls threw at each other. She was constantly stepped on, manipulated, embarrassed, and sometimes even made the “fall girl” for certain schemes. But she never gave up trying, knowing one day that she would be accepted, one way or another. And later…she was.

This hunger for power was only the beginning to her madness. High school became Aubrey’s playground for her unknown gift. She played boys like fiddles and ground women into the dirt with the blink of an eye. As time went on she grew very used to being on top of everyone and everything. She was able to get her way in any situation and the joy it brought her wasn’t like anything she had ever experienced before. Her gift became her drug.

Significant Event

When Aubrey graduated high school, she immediately applied to a prestigious medical university. She had wanted to become a nurse because A) the job had money and B) because her “friends” were doing the same. Despite all her complaining to her colleagues and loathing the idea of becoming a nurse, secretly, she enjoyed the career. Aubrey graduated in the top ten of her class and was even offered several jobs on the spot. But the one that caught her attention was Bethlem. Everyone had avoided the place, saying it was too dangerous and the people there were all mad. Ignoring the warnings however, Aubrey joined the Bethlem staff and has twisted her way into more power than she can handle.

Name: Max Everett
Age: 40
Ability/Disorder: Enhanced Strength, the ability to use greater than normal physical force. The person in question is not untouchable and will still feel the effects of attacks, both ones given to him and dealt against another, though with less pain.
Status: Head of Security/Guards, in charge of monitoring all guards and patients, organizing shifts, and attending meetings with the Head of Staff and Head of Doctors.

“Ever think there’s a reason I don’t like you?”

  • Tough
  • Organized
  • Rough
  • Professional
  • Ambitious

Background

There was no reason to wonder about Max’s past, he didn’t tell other people about it and they never got past his disinterested exterior to find out. His family had been working in Bethlem for years, always on the extreme lower edge of the staff pyramids. They were often the one sent in to deal with dangerous situations because no one gave a damn what happened to them, the pawns were always replaceable of course. Max refused to be part of that. He hadn’t spent three years in the Military and eight years after that in college just to get some rookie job licking the higher-ups shoes. He was worth way more than that and wouldn’t settle for anything less than what he deserved.

Despite his determination to get as high as he could, Max still started out small; the only difference being was he made it no secret of where he planned to be, butting heads often with the previous head of guards, a man nicknamed Lucks, as he climbed the staff ranks faster than any man before him. The patients supported him, rallying for a man they hoped to be better than the one they had, but Max didn’t care, he wasn’t doing this for them; he was doing this for himself. The previous head was soon forced down from his role and Max stepped up to his current role, immensely pleased with himself although none could tell considering he went about his business just as professionally as before.

Significant Event

None of the staff knew about Max’s ability and he was very careful at keeping it that way, only using enough to get by. However, only a few weeks after Lucks, the previous head of guard had stepped down, had he been confronted by the man. Lucks threatened him, saying to run away as fast as he could or he’d reveal about his special status. Rather than take his warning, Max killed him with a thoughtless punch that was supposed to knock him out but instead broke his neck. He’d hidden the body, the only lingering thought in his head about it that Lucks might have told someone else.

Name: Melody Wright
Age: 41
Ability/Disorder: Narcolepsy, a sleep disorder that causes excessive sleepiness and frequent daytime sleep attacks. Click here for more information.
Status: patient, normal

“I’m going to find my brother, I don’t care what they say.”

  • Adventurous
  • Understanding
  • Obsessive
  • Clever
  • Patient

Background

Melody had a little brother born when she was sixteen so the two were never really close while the former grew up, especially when Melody up and moved to the country once she turned eighteen, where she went to a local college to become an astronomer. Her life was quiet, filled with a routine that she found almost boring; even attempting to keep in touch with her family was boring, only able to get short, formal replies to anything she sent about them visiting her or vice versus. It didn’t surprise as much as it should, she’d never been close to her parents since they didn’t like wasting precious money on dealing with her Narcolepsy issue. After a while, she stopped sending messages, letting her quiet, boring life continue on as it was, until her brother sent her an e-mail saying he’d been kicked out for drinking and needed a place to stay

Apprehensive of having a teenager in the house, especially one who seemed to have drinking problems, she debated on whether having Louis Wright in her house was a good idea. This was what she looking for though, a way to spice up her uneventful life. She agreed, wiring over money and hasn’t regretted it since. She was close to her brother, lecturing him on drinking himself stupid being a bad idea, and despite his ill-mood at being kicked out, Louis respected her, helping whenever she needed help. It was Louis who drew the Bethlem’s attention when he developed an aura-seeing ability - and then vanished an evening later with a single note. Fearing the worst, Melody fled to Bethlem herself to look for him, but could never find him anywhere in the asylum and couldn’t leave to check anywhere else.

Significant Event

There was no secret in the asylum that Melody was there looking and waiting for someone close to her. The patients looked on sympathetically, but the staff used it as leverage. Often, she got remarks about how close she was to finding a piece of him followed by laughter until she came to the conclusion that he wasn’t here. She attempted to leave, but found her path barred by the staff, saying that she wasn’t healthy and thus couldn’t leave. Melody fought against them, until they sedated her and she woke up hours later in her room. She’s been obsessively trying to get out since then but with no luck.

Name: Talia Birchman
Age: 26
Ability/Disorder: Electric manipulation, the ability to charge hands with electricity and shock/propel it out of the hands. This ability doesn’t make the user immune to electric shocks, ability can backfire or lash out if emotions go out of control.
Status: patient, special

“What’s the point in even being special if it hurts people we love?”

  • Flirty
  • Careful
  • Enthusiastic
  • Accident-prone
  • Intelligent

Background

Talia loved her family. They were kind and smart, went to church every Sunday and said grace before every meal. Her sister was adorable, drawing in her coloring books and her brother handsome even when writing on the walls. But the thing she loved most about them was that they were understanding. When her ability manifested, her family didn’t turn their backs on her. Instead, they fully supported her, learning techniques to keep her calm in case it lashed out or teaching her how to control it despite knowing next to nothing about where it even came from. They took her to the best, private doctors to figure things out, but none of them could offer advice other than keep calm, don’t do anything rash.

She begged her parents to pull her out of school after the best doctor could only shrug his shoulders. While Talia wasn’t one to avoid throwing a punch when angry, she didn’t want to kill anyone and she was sure her ability could do exactly that. They agreed, pulling her from school and putting her an independent study program. After, she elected to take college online at home. One day, she hurt her sister. It was an accident, but Talia still panicked and fled. Picked up by Bethlem after a week on the streets, Talia is firmly on the staff’s side in finding a cure and has been through the most experiments, even volunteering for some, in the asylum.

Significant Event

One evening when she thought she was alone and testing her ability, she lost control of it and her sister wandered into the room to notice the ruckus. Her sister had been caught in the crossfire. Talia panicked too much to check if she was even alive, only managing to call the police and before fleeing into the night with a single note of I’m so sorry to her family. Even after a year of being in the asylum, Talia still has nightmares of flashes of lightning and her sister’s surprise face.

Name: Patricia ‘Patty’ Prax
Age: 26
Ability/Disorder: None
Status: Trainee, shadowing Doctor Eion Welch.

“If you were smart, you’d know exactly why you shouldn’t do that.”

  • Eccentric
  • Pacifist
  • Perfectionist
  • Harsh (in her words)
  • Tactless

Background

Patty wouldn’t throw a punch to save her life. Not to say she couldn’t, being the sister of a pro-wrestler and the daughter of a Marine she knew plenty about fighting, but she’d seen all the damage it had done to other people and couldn’t bear to hurt another person. When her father hung himself when she was eighteen, she decided against becoming an artist in favor of becoming a psychologist, wanting to save and help as many lives as she possibly could so they could avoid the same pain she and her family went through. Her brother and mother supported her decision and helping pay for the sudden college change.

She graduated from her university with some of the highest grades, but none of the hospitals would accept her on without any extra field experience. This put Patty in dilemma, unable to think of a place she could go that wouldn’t turn her away. She sent out flyers and got a reply from Bethlem, who agreed to let her shadow one of their doctors as long as she sighed a confidentially agreement. Patty didn’t know what she was getting herself into when she signed, but arriving at Bethlem, she assigned to follow Doctor Welch and help with whatever he asked. Seeing the horrors of the asylum firsthand, Patty found herself frightened - and yet intrigued at the same time.

Significant Event

An asylum was not a good place for someone who wouldn’t defend herself and yet was too snarky for her own good, something Patty had to learn the hard way. She jokingly mocked one of the patients about his rather large nose, when he suddenly charged at her with a make-shift wooden blade. Though she had only been gotten a small cut on her arm before the guards stopped him, Patty decided to never poke fun at people unless she was sure they could take it.
